Seo is very important for every webmaster, so this list, my opinion, main website ranking factors.

Domain ranking factors

  • Keyword on top domain- I you have e-shop, which is trading alloy wheels for cars and your domain name is alloywheelseshop.com it does make a sense and relevance.
  • Domain age- has some value, but it is not the main factor
  • Domain registration term- it does make difference if domain registered for one year or five years. You can check domain expiry using domain tools.
  • Domain owner- If Google penalize domain owner as spammer, it may affect all domains which he registered.
  • Domain private owner- If looking on domain tools you can not see owner name, it may give less trust. Check domain owner using whois service.
  • Domain extension- targeting exact country it is worth to buy domain for particular country extension, e.g. mydomain.co.uk, it helps to rank better, on the other side it is not so good for global ranking.
